Isn't client / UI testing always been manual?
Why leave clients to find bugs before you do? At some point you have to drink the Kool-Aid

Unfortunately when developers are not writing tests saying that QA should do that job tests become outdated and useless pretty soon in most cases. I suggest to look at books and podcasts by Uncle Bob. His videos at cleancoder are very good too.

I used FEST on a swing project and it was quite excellent. Whatever you use I think you will need to know Java to write unit tests.
Unit tests should not be written by the QA staff; QA staff can be using Quality Center to automate those kinds of tests.

I'm getting ready to release a client -  server swing app. The server code has been tested but testing the UI and client functionality seems daunting.
I looked into FeST, but that seems like a LOT of work. More importantly, the person handling QA is not a Java developer and FeST is a DSL built on top of java.
Any suggestions or experience with this?
