Hello karting triathletes,
We will have our second ever Kartathlon event on Saturday, September 21. As you know, this unique endurance race combines karting, biking and running all on the same track.
The racing format will be altered a little this time (thanks to member feedback). It will now consist of 35 minutes of karting then 20 minutes of biking and lastly 15 minutes of running. Each segment would end with the checkered flag, but timing/scoring would be continuous. Therefore, it would be important to keep transition times minimal. The winner would be the one who completes the most total laps of all three segments combined.
The race is scheduled to start at 5:30pm but participants should be at the track at 4:30pm to have time to register/select kart, attach racing number bibs, and practice.
Each competitor would drive the 9hp endurance kart but would ride his own or rental bike. Safety gear for the karting and biking segments would be mandatory.
The registration fee is $150/person which includes kart rental and safety gear. The optional bike rental (Trek 7.2 FX hybrid) would be $50 extra (including helmet). Spectators and cheerleaders are welcome at no cost.
The top three finishers will receive trophies and all participants will receive a Kartriathlon t-shirt. So, be a part of this unique adventure and RSVP today!
Note: Carpooling with bike will be offered from Port Imperial ferry terminal in Weehawken, NJ (depart from W.39th St in NYC). Check nywaterway.com for schedule/fare info. Pickup time would be 3:00pm. You can reach me anytime at [masked].
