We come home from work, throw open the door, and interupt our roommates tale of his project mishap at work to share that 2 year old Eloise said, "Thank you, Mademoiselle!" when you gave her a piece of cheese, and 2 month old Jeremy can already laugh! That's not nearly as annoying to them, however, as when you sing, "Little by little," from Kai Lan in the shower or narrate everything you do while you're cooking dinner. Most people who are with kids as often as we are have their own. But we're nannies, and it's what we do.

And while the rest of the nation's nannies are teaching kids to look both ways before they cross the street, we're teaching kids to wait for the man before it's safe to cross. The kids we hang out with ask if we'll fill up the bathtub with snow on a winter's day so they can play with snow that's still white, and we look for pigeons and dogs on our "Nature Walks." At music group we sing songs about riding the Subway and taking the elevator to the 17th floor. We are NYC nannies, and that's how we do it.

We have the best jobs in the world. We get paid to hang out with the people we love. At the end of the day, though, we're still young ladies (and gentlemen!) that want to grab a drink after work or have coffee with someone who isn't already a mom--but won't roll their eyes at an occational mommy-like story!
