And how fast do you want Cisco to send there knee breakers to show you the importance of purchasing a license…..  I have heard of people getting there certs stripped for doing something like this when they find you..

Moral of the story, purchase the license, in the long run, if you know what you are talking about you can re-coup that money in no time

Google Cisco ASA[masked]) keymaker v1.0.

If you are using it as a study tool for CCNP, then it is necessary…..

Looking at the price difference on ebay, I would spend the extra 50 to 100 bucks to get a true DMZ , 20 VLANS, and unlimited inside hosts..

The Security Plus license is really not necessary for most people.

Will, if you want to get one under a Benjamin, try the shady guy in the alley who said he can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge or five-finger discount from your local IT shop :P You MAY be able to find a cheap but you'll probably get the Base license.

You can always go out and get an ASA 5505 like I did. After studying for security + and CCNA:Security i got a bit paranoid and needed better security at home lol. Also offers a bit of real world experience and allows you to build real vpn tunnels  a friend or friends. Great way to share media!

My next box is Palo Alto. I want mess around with the layer 7 capabilities.

I agree, after CCNP R&S you dont really need to go into that much more depth aside from maybe BGP. MPLS, Multicast, QoS are only if your in a huge shop that needs it but most companies dont even touch those.

What most companies DO touch is alot of firewall stuff. I'm hoping the labs/videos I'll put up will help supplement this for the guys studying for it. Plus and like Jack said, CCNP Security is very do-able in GNS3 so why not?

That's because security is the shit! In my personal opinion studying for the CCNP:Security was a bitch but worth it in the end. Also, you can easily emulate it in GNS and now with the Alpha release you can probably do 802.1x.

Overall, the funny thing is the material kept  wanting more whereas the R&S is dragging on. That's me though. Best of luck to those studying the security route.

Networkers,
I've added on the nycnetworkers.com page a CCNA Security lab with one full blown lab you can try for people who had a CCNA Security or studying for it. I took a look at the calendar for the next month and May and its really packed between other meetups and Cisco Live.
I've noticed alot of people joining the group is asking for either for Security or Datacenter, not R&S. Seeing the demand I'll try to put together more SEC/DC meetups and labs.
I'll post up a "solution" video sometime later, but give it a try and let me know your thoughts on it!
Thanks
