Join us for an informal presentation of four Brooklyn collectives. Bring a favorite food item or drink to share!
Urban collectives are intentional urban communities whose members share activities and participate in collective decision-making.
Midwood House is a freestanding home of six women in Lefferts Gardens. The residents are like-minded artists, musicians, writers and activists who value sustainability, cooperative living, and social justice, regularly hosting “house concerts” and other small events in their home.
1399 is a Crown Heights collective of four four-person households, each with its own internal rules about sharing and participation, that leverages shared interests and capacities toward a stronger sense of belonging and responsibility, both to the house-wide community and to the local neighborhood.
Yggdrasil is our four-person home and garden in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. We seek to live collectively within our household (and its extended membership!) and to contribute to the social health of our block and our neighborhood.
Treehaus is a collective household of 13 people in Bed-Stuy. We have been in existence for five years and are committed to sustainability, cooperation, and community.
