Foraging in Central Park with Wildman Steve Brill

Call (914)[masked] at least 24 hours ahead to reserve a place.

Foraging is the act of seeking one's food directly from nature: wild strawberries, dandelion greens, mushrooms, mint, etc. Wildman Steve Brill is one of the most well-known foragers in the area, and among the most respected in the country. He'll be leading an expedition this Saturday in Central Park. Foraging Video

The 4-hour walking tour begins at 11:45 AM, Saturday, July 6, at West 72nd Street and Central Park West.

Please wear closed-toed shoes as we will walk through some poison ivy in spots. You may also want to wear long pants or insect repellant. Bring plastic bags for bark and herbs, tupperware for berries, and a digging knife and paper bags to collect mushrooms. Gloves, sunglasses, and a hat might also prove useful.

You can eat what you forage, but it is suggested that you also bring a lunch!

$20 Donation requested (sliding scale).

For those that want to get a jumpstart on the event, I recommend you download his "Wild Edibles" app. It's got a lot of great information and is very portable. ;) Also don't forget to bring the different collection bags and tools listed in the event description.

Please call Wildman Steve Brill at (914)[masked] to reserve your spot. Also call him to cancel. There is a $25 fee for "No Shows" that delay the groups departure by having us wait for you unnecessarily!

Don't forget to officially RSVP by calling the Wildman! And, of course, please call him to let you know if you have a change of plans later.
