Monthly Meetup: PARTY and Slideshow Presentation

  • This location is shown only to members

NEW LOCATION!!! (Thanks, Soraya!)

PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME as the downstairs door will be locked and someone will have to get you if you are late. Please text Tiffany,[masked], if you are running late, so she can check for you. Cell reception is bad in that area, and it may take a few minutes for your message to be received.

This meetup is held the first Tuesday of each month and has two purposes.

Firstly, it serves as a general networking opportunity for Permies in the area to meet each other and to provide mutual aid. What are you struggling with that you need help with? What is everyone working on and where? Who is available to help each other with projects?

Secondly, this is an information session to increase knowledge about all facets of permaculture from farming practices, to economic systems, and community building.

This month we will celebrate the end of the year together with some snacks and drinks as we share our favorite permaculture events. There will be a slideshow presentation featuring images of some of the bigger events, as well as a special presentation by Event Organizer, Gil Lopez, on how he took over a vacant lot in Queens and is now in the process of getting it recognized as a legal community garden, and part of the NYC Farm School curriculum after three years of squatting.

Please feel free to bring snacks or refreshments to share, and your own plates and cups if possible to minimize waste.

This is going to be a meeting you don't want to miss!

*A $5 donation will be optional for our meetups. Proceeds help sponsor PDC students, establish and maintain demonstration sites, purchase land for a land trust network, and other sustainable culture educational projects in the Northeast. The PayPal link sends a donation to Green Phoenix Permaculture, a 501c3 organization that sponsors this Meetup.*

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get contact info for one of the ladies who attended this meeting and where from an Ashram in Western Mass. Can anyone help me out?

This was such an EXCELLENT event!!!! Thank you all for coming out and celebrating the end of the year and Alice's birthday with us. You all made it so special with your singing and sharing about the work that you do. Thank you, Alice, for your assistance with the slideshow presentation and keeping us on track. Thank all the organizers--Sean, Alice, and Adam--for everything they've done over the years to keep it going!

Thank you, Soraya, for letting us use your space--and running up and down the elevator all night to keep letting people in!

And a big thanks to Gil for such a fabulous presentation on your work at Smiling Hogshead Ranch. It was really inspiring to hear how you moved forward without fear on your project, and got so many other members of the community to support you in giving everything from trees, to water tanks, to giant murals. I can't believe how much you've accomplished in such a short time! I had a great evening, and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

    Hey Noriko,
found the same thing, but by Tiffany's instructions it must be the one on 34th street. That's where the Empire State building is. See you there,
