NY-AHG Monthly Meeting

  • May 14, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month's speaker will be Sandra Senzon on the topic of "Botanicals and the Mouth." Ms. Senzon is a Registered Herbalist, Registered Dental Hygienist, and author of the the book "Reversing Gum Disease Naturally."

Monthly Meeting Format:

There will be a formal lecture by a guest speaker on some aspect of herbal medicine. Usually the presenter is a long-time professional in the field, and is often times a licensed medical professional in addition to being a registered herbalist.  Lectures can be difficult to follow for beginning herbalists, but are great for those looking to learn a lot in a short amount of time and connect with others in the field. It is STRONGLY recommended that you bring a notebook and pen, or laptop to take notes. Brushing up on your knowledge of the Latin names for herbs will also help, though both Latin and common names are usually given. ;)

About the NY Chapter of the American Herbalist Guild:

The long awaited New York City chapter has finally arrived. Our chapter includes all five boroughs:  Queens, Staten Island, Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. We feel there are more herbalists practicing in the city than you know. This is your chance to be part of the Big Apple Grassroots Herbal movement.  Any persons using herbs, regardless of health care discipline, are invited to attend the meetings.  We welcome those who want to learn, and are new to learning, about herbs as well.  Our group consists of esteemed AHG professional members, and some new budding 'dandelions'.  The Chapter's mission is promote wellness using herbal therapies throughout the city by educating, teaching and sponsoring events to local communities.  We also will raise money for these events.  We intend to grow exponentially to be the largest chapter within the AHG.  Meetings are usually held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the New York Botanical Garden's Midtown Manhattan location at 20 West 44th St.
