How did you become interested in permaculture?

I've been interested for a while about urban farming and what else I can do in the city to help save this planet.

If you have taken a Permaculture Design Course, who was your was your teacher and what year did you receive your certification?

N/A

How are you currently applying the permaculture principles in your life? (Care of people and the earth, fair distribution of surplus, promotion of diversity, cooperation, integration, zero waste, etc.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture)

I'm a member of a local coop and have been composting at home for the last few months. And I'm working on producing less waste at home.

What are some of your favorite permaculture resources? (Books, videos, websites, etc.)

I'm pretty new to the movement so I don't have any I frequent just yet.

What are some aspects of life in New York that you would like to see the group address from a permaculture perspective? (For example: land use patterns, the banking and healthcare systems, transportation, housing, community development, food, waste

Brownfield remediation and how one can acquire one of the many empty lots in this city for community permaculture and use.

Introduction

I just got back from a major trip to Hawaii where I toured farms and learned a bit about local farming and living off the land. Am interested in urban farming and sustainable living in general.
