How did you become interested in permaculture?

We live in a disposable society- something's gotta give, I decided it would be me

If you have taken a Permaculture Design Course, who was your was your teacher and what year did you receive your certification?

No course, just common sense

How are you currently applying the permaculture principles in your life? (Care of people and the earth, fair distribution of surplus, promotion of diversity, cooperation, integration, zero waste, etc.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture)

Not as interested in the social (fair distribution, diversity..) but more the practical aspects of permaculture. Ways to reduce my negative impact, and increase my positive impact on the earth. Passive solar, reclaiming heat from a wood stove to heat my water, humanure..

What are some of your favorite permaculture resources? (Books, videos, websites, etc.)

Permies.com

What are some aspects of life in New York that you would like to see the group address from a permaculture perspective? (For example: land use patterns, the banking and healthcare systems, transportation, housing, community development, food, waste

Replacing ornamental curb trees with trees that bear real food, for all to have and enjoy.

Introduction

I heat with wood, grow fruits and veggies, save seeds, can foods, ferment, brew, keep chickens, want rabbits, compost, hunt and could use a few ideas on how best to use my big yard on Staten Island to be more ecologically sustainable/self sufficient
