Hello everyone,

I do believe that the unsustainability and great societal detriment that "unlimited growth" is actually quite well represented and understood down at the protests.  However, I think the integration of more solution based approaches would be something that is welcome, and the re-planning of the space based on permaculture principles as well as regular work shops exploring sustainable/ecologically based design and how it can relate to the reorientation and reworking of the economic system is an essential component that this movement has been dying for since it's conception.  I look forward to seeing how these ideas propel the movement forward!  Please do keep us updated on here with any plans that are made to have workshops, and please share ideas to other occupations around the country that will be in need of them as well.

I was down there for a few hours and attempted to discuss the economic implications of Peak Oil. I believe, like others, that we have seen a peak in the size of the global economy, which will continue to contract due to a plateau and then decline in global oil production. I believe this perspective should be explored more at OWS. I'm not sure how receptive most people were, or if they fully understood the implications of what I was explaining. Does anyone have any ideas? Perhaps a film screening?
