Here here!  I am a full proponent of local currencies, and glad to hear others are considering them as an alternative to (and as you said, safety net for the collapse of) this broken and foolish nationally privatized fiat system we have.  I've actually never heard of a produce based currency, that's quite interesting.  How would that work exactly?  How do you decide which produce to base the currency on, and how do you decide the value of the produce itself?

I will unfortunately not be staying in the NYC area for much longer, so will be unable to participate in any efforts you may undertake to bring this system to fruition, but would be very interested in knowing more about the idea and would encourage you to reach out to the protesters at the square.  I have heard people speaking of "building alternative institutions" as a solutions oriented approach to this crisis, so I feel something like this would be well received.  Plant the seed while the ground is fertile!

My Sincere Apologies,  Please in my neighborhood means "Please that's a pathetic idea."  Irrespective of minor cultural differences. I'm not only in full support of your efforts, but, working on similar efforts myself and relaying information about these efforts with the hopes that more will engage.   Again, my apologies.  Keep up the Good work.   Yes!  I am combative, I don't deny that.  So is the Tea Party and All who think like them, one should not enter a fight and not be prepared to battle.

Keep up the good work

Before you attack someone publicly: I am CALLING FOR LOCAL CURRENCY BACKED BY PRODUCE. Why would I be on this email chain? I want it to happen, and in fact, I'm working to make it happen in the Hudson Valley. I used the term "please" in the most traditional sense of the word = asking for something to happen. You may possibly be a very combative person.

Obviously you still have a reactionary view about economics, in times that demand that one thinks and ACTS outside of the box.
Please? ... what's even more pathetic is taking what could be a revolution that could transform economics as we know it for the better and turning it into one big MTV party. .... Please!
