Hi Mathew,

Your plans look awesome,  Congratulations! We have always been interested in purchasing property and sustainable living up in Southern Maine but our jobs kept us here in Long Island.

There are two permaculture meetups which I belong to that offer interesting opportunities for learning . You may join even if you can't personally participate and receive the ideas which are indicated through scheduled events. I'm sure that you can introduce yourself and ask questions on their message boards, etc. as well.  I really havn't researched permaculture design myself, to offer feedback,  but your sketches look great!.

The other is in Portland Maine. http://www.meetup.com/portlandpermaculture/

Best of luck.

i sketched up a 3d model of our home & garden in order to design a comprehensive plan for this years planting and expansion . this is by and large what is existing,(outside of the rainwater tanks, pond and garden-tool shelter.) out front will be heavily replanted and expanded, hope to eliminate the lawn entirely there..backyard will retain a small patch for outdoor meals and gatherings but rest is fair game. some of the existing trees/shrubs are on the chopping block too,we're putting in dwarf/columnar fruit trees, nut trees/hazelnut-fedges in their place.

i'd love to hear folks feedback/ideas here for various areas, each image in the album has a general description, with some ideas. one of the larger projects will be the rainwater harvesting drums and drip irrigation to raised hugelkultur beds , does anyone have experince with gravity fed low pressure systems? i'd like to make it dual-source by tying into our mains water spigot out back as well.

if anyone is familiar with using google sketchup i can upload and share the actual model,

3D Model of our home & garden on facebook...
