About the special Wellness Unit in this Introduction to Permaculture Weekend:
As humans, we are inexorably linked to the soils and natural systems around us for our sustenance- physical, spiritual, and mental.  We will share some of the important distinctions that can help to determine optimal function from the perspective of an organism, wrapped around our own internal garden - as we share many of the beneficial bacteria in our intestines as those found in healthy soils!   The makeup and role of the key body systems will be discussed, as well as the role of whole foods and life foods- uncooked dishes of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds to promote health and vitality.  We'll also look at the use of healthy ferments as a way of both preserving local harvest, and promoting health.  Nourishment is a key to understanding why we might begin to increase links with our food production personally and as communities.

The cost for the Intro Weekend is a sliding scale of $[masked]/person for the weekend, based on your ability to pay [your own assessment]. This covers tuition and lodging in a heated bunk lodge. We provide arrival supper on Friday and breakfast. Lunches, snacks and dinner are potluck [planned and organized]. Please note that space is limited and people need to contact Joan, register and arrange for bringing food.
