we need logs

Sent on: Saturday, April 17, 2010 12:42 PM
Hello, fellow permies,

I know that many of you are traveling upstate or to other somewhat
rural areas these next few weeks. Here at The Commons we plan to start
growing mushrooms this spring. But we need a few items that are very
hard to come by here in the city, namely:

upsplit, hardwood, non-aromatic logs (oak is best, but almost all
hardwoods will work--NOT cedar or black locust)
between 2 weeks and 3 months from felling
3-8" in diameter
36-40" in length
bark on, minimal damage
no signs of rotting or spalting (change in texture, strength and color
of wood caused by fungus colonies)

We need at least three-four dozen of these logs. Anybody who can bring
such logs back to Brooklyn will get free mushroom spawn in return
(we'll be doing shitake and oysters). If it is not convenient for you
to deliver the logs to The Commons, I can go to where you are in the
city to pick up the logs. I will also vacuum out your vehicle for you.

Please let me know if you can help with this. Thanks.
