    To Yvonne, on that problem we worked on, I thought about another way to solve it. Instead of so many if else's, you could have gone with recursion, calling the function again until it met correct conditions or bottomed out.

      I suppose one advantage of this approach would be if you wanted to avoid mutable state

      Recursion works with Python until you exceed recursion depth. If you keep extending it, you'll run out of memory. I think you're far better off learning to properly use the for and while looping structures. An aside, if anyone's around today, we've got Sunday office hours from 1 to 4, theme: Pandas DataFrame.
