I get the impression that it's one event, two locations, competition between individual teams, not coasts.
But maybe Jane can fill us in on the details, such as: will the SF group be face-to-face with the judging panel, while the Boston group is remote? There could be an unintentional yet unfair advantage to such an arrangement, so these are definitely legit questions.
