Deployment Servers and Strategies

There is plethora of deployment servers and strategies. Join us to discuss production deployment best practices (and hacks) Rubyists use in the field. Points of interest

  • Capistrano (old trusted, maybe busted)
  • Chef (what a little bit of infrastructure buys you)
  • Puppet and its skinny cousin Shadow Puppet .
  • Rush, Moonshine and other illicit sounding fringe techniques

It was good, it would've been nice if we could've gotten a lil bit more into chef... but i'm not complaining :)

I really liked it because the discussion was great and mostly understandable by someone like me who is just starting out with Rails. It was especially important to hear that unless certain situations arise with the application, capistrano, despite it's age, is still a good tool to start with.

Really high level conversations. A lot for a noob, but good to hear.
