Introduction

Although I program in a variety of languages Ruby is my favorite, and its not just for Rails. I'd like to see a community of Ruby developers sharing what they know and showing off why Ruby is the best language to program.

What topics would you like the meetup to cover.

All of them in order of importance

Are you a Rubyist? Or a Ruby enthusiast ?

Ruby developer for half a decade. Originally a UNIX system admin (RS6000 SP, large scale enterprise systems) Veteran of the DotCom boom Java Enterprise Developer for a smidge over 10 years. Happily running a small Ruby consultancy.

Would you like to see a Ruby Un-Conference in New York?

Yes indeed! I want to have my cake and eat it too

  • Hello MJ,
    Cutting-edge OSS CMS/Mobile: http://drupal.meetup.com/9

I run that Meetup and we would love to have serious mobile devs jump in.
Despite the controversy, the Drupal community has taken the CMS lead, for now. Ruby is a go!

The architecture of Drupal as webdev platform is innovative and not to be ignored.

Please consider the potential of cross-promoting our meetups. We see lots of room for Ruby. :-)

Can I join as a guest? (I see the RSVP is full though)

  • Hi Matthew. I am looking to tap into the regional community of Ruby developers.
We are at a critical juncture of our venture in which we need to add someone to our management team that is both strategic and hands on in development. We initially are seeking someone in a part time capacity that could very quickly transition into a full time opportunity.
Where would you recommend I go to post and recruit such talent?
    Thanks for your help.
    Greg
