RE: [nycruby] [JOB] Software Engineer (Java/Ruby) - New York City

As a recruiter myself and someone who has monitored and occasionally contributed to this list, I would say Beau takes a wild west style approach to recruiting.

Please don’t associate his actions with all recruiters. Most would never do something like this.

Yes, that is obvious. What isn't obvious is why Beau would do that. Even someone with bad intentions wouldn't normally be so foolish, so my guess is he was looking at the description along with others and inadvertently copied and pasted it. I can't believe a recruiter would do something like that without consulting the "client" first.

See the second message in the thread. Internet Media is the "Client" Beau talks about.

I don't get it. What happened, Beau? Were you copying and pasting and copied the wrong job listing? I see lots of recruiters, who are working on behalf of a company, copy and paste job descriptions from their clients sites.

He's right. The position is with his company.  Please apply directly through Kurt if you are interested. I'll go and kill myself now.  The world will be a better place without me.

Thank you,

Beau Gould

Hi list,

This is my job description at Intent Media, but we are not engaged with this recruiter. I've emailed him to tell him to stop using my job description.

Apologies for the noise. We would never spam a list like this.
