Introduction to AngularJS

  • Feb 28, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This week we're going to be learning how to make web applications using the Javascript framework - AngularJS. We'll go in depth in learning how we can use AngularJS to build the client-side part of your project, and how you can streamline the process of development. Beginner and advanced Javascript users are welcome, but come prepared with some knowledge of Javascript and some knowledge of what frameworks are.

Search up and read up on what frameworks are, and brush up on your Javascript! This will be a great session and we will be trying a new way of teaching our classes but building a web app together.

In the future we'll be building on AngularJS and using NodeJS to show you how you can do both server-side and client-side using Javascript.

We'll have a guest presenter, Saikiran Yerram, who has over 15 years of web development experience come in and give this presentation on AngularJS. He's working on his startup, Kipin Hall, which is being launched at New York University and tested by some of your own classmates! He's familiar with many web technologies and so if you've a question you can directly contact him.

Pizza/food will be served!

I'm a Mac user. What kind of software do I need to install prior to coming to the event?

Hello im a interactive designer (work), graphic design (student) from Chile, i have previous experience in programming languages like htmll/css, as/2, as/3 processing (framework based on java), but i want to pass to the dev. side of the force, to do my own interactive apps, this event will be good for me? too complex maybe?

Definitely! You already have a great skillset and you can expand on that by learning AngularJS. AngularJS could be used with most technologies online and definitely a good fit for interactive apps

I've never been to a meetup before. I've been working on web development for the past decade, mostly html, css, php, MySQL, etc., but now I'm looking to see how modern web application development takes place. Any pointers before Friday, besides those listed in the description, so that I'm not out of the loop?

    Thanks.

Hey! You're pretty much ready as you have some experience with some web technology before. I would personally brush up on some Javascript (http://www.yuiblog.co... is great!) and maybe read some information about web frameworks and why you need them (http://www.webmonkey....)

Thanks for the information. I'm looking forward to the event!
