About The NY Guild of Handweavers Meetup

Welcome to the NY Guild of Handweavers Meetup! This group is sponsored by The New York Guild of Handweavers, a Manhattan based guild that meets about once a month with lectures, workshops, show and tell as well as other events. Guild membership is $40 per year, students $15, or you can come to a single meeting for only $8. We will be planning other free events as well.

You do not have to be a member of the Guild to be a member of this Meetup, but we encourage you to share in our Guild activities which include:

Eight meetings a year with lectures by prominent weavers and fiber artists. Some are hands-on lectures, where techniques are demonstrated and there is an opportunity to try them out.

Sponsored Workshops are offered each year with very reasonable fees.

Newsletter, New York Threads, for Guild members, provides a listing of the New York area?s textile exhibits and shows.

Juried Show sponsored by Guild. Current plans for new venue and larger invitational show.

Member gallery on the Guild website where members post a short bios and pictures of their work.

Library available free to all Guild members with books on tapestry, couture, weave structure, color theory, and textile history.

Weaver's Exchange, for buying and selling weaving related materials at most meetings and also on the website.

Outreach to the community with demos at historic houses and other locations throughout the city.
