NYLUG Workshop / Hacking Society

The coordinators will be teaching and showing off hardware hacking, simple DIY electronics projects, and programming tutorials. We will also help newcomers to Linux learn the ropes of getting around.

Bring something to discuss! We've been focusing on LaTeX, Python, Smalltalk, and using Linux, but were open to anything. There's a blackboard, chalk, and Internet access.  Notebook computers are helpful but not required. Bring books! Bring hardware! Bring software! Bring friends! All levels of experience from totally new to experienced welcome!

After workshops, the coordinators go out for dinner and/or drinks nearby. Feel free to join us for some lively dinner conversations!

It is helpful, but not necessary to have a notebook computer. If you would like to work on hardware hacking or electronics, feel free to bring equipment. There's WiFi in the library for your convenience.

i need help re-loading Fedora onto a partition on my Lenovo notebook. i got re-furbished and still haven't a clue about how to exploit all its connectivity. I just discovered it has a 1394 slot.
Full support for IEEE 1394[a,b] is avail.. wiki

That will work if you can find a large enough disk drive that can be connected to that interface. And the BIOS allows for booting from it. Problem is that standard is not properly supported inside Linux.

    Hey Guys,

Tomorrow I'll be continuing the tract on Terminal Workflows with a focus on Git. I'll be running through usage, the advantages of different plumbing and porcelain commands and finishing with use cases and example workflows for new and old users alike. Working notes are available at http://jamesmeldrum.github.com/TerminalWorkflows/lesson_three.html - these will be finished by the start of the workshop tomorrow.

    Best,

    James.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
