Hello Novice paddler, below is some information for your session
A waiver is required for participation.
Click here to fill out the waiver.
RSVP's can be changed up till 24 hours before the session. If you do not show up for your session, you will not be allowed to sign up for another session.
We paddle rain or shine except when there is lightening. Remember to wear sunscreen and to bring a bottle of water in the canoe to stay hydrated. You are free to wear whatever you want provided you do not mind the possibility of it getting soaked. You may want to consider bringing something dry you can change into afterwards. Assume anything you bring in the canoe will get soaked and/or lost.
We have areas to change and showers in the boathouse. Just bring need. We also have small lockers where you can lock your valuables provided you bring your own lock.
We will meet on the waterside of the Pier 66 Boathouse (marked with the New York Riversports and NYO banner) at West 26th Street and WestSide Highway just north of Chelsea Piers. Just walk down the pier to the dock at the rear of the boathouse. Please be prompt. The novice sessions will involve a half hour introduction on the dock to familiarize you with the technique, commands and safety protocol ofthe canoe. This is then followed by a 30 to 45 minute session on the water.
