Coney island will be having its 30th Anniversary Mermaid Parade on June 23. The Mermaid Parade is lots of fun to shoot. You'll be amazed by the colorful costumes and creativity that comes out. It's almost like the East Coast version of a Burning Man event but without any burning men and a lot less nudity. Besides the parade, there are also lots of of other things to shoot from the fun house to the amusement park, the arcade, run down buildings, Nathan's famous hot dogs, cotton candy of every color, the beach and of course sunset at the beach.
The parade is at 2pm but the festivities will continue past sunset. I set the meet for 1:00pm to allow us all to meet and find a spot to shoot from.
This is one you really don't want to miss!
You can add me to your Twitter or Facebook and message me through those or call me to find out exactly where we are at when you get there. It is crowded and may be a challenge to stay together. That's perfectly fine. Continue shooting even if we get separated and enjoy the festivities. I will send out my cell phone number to those who RSVP yes the day before the meet and I will do it again on the day of the meet just in case there are any last minute shutterbugs looking to join us.
We'll meet on Surf Avenue and W.15th Street on the Nathan's side of the street at 1:00pm
The weather will be 87 degrees, hot and sunny. Please don't forget to wear sunblock and comfortable walking shoes. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
