In this talk, Vinicius will discuss the steps that emusic's engineering team took when replacing a proprietary search solution called Endeca with an open source, elastic and scalable solution. The talk will show the many challenges of providing a scalable and reliable search infrastructure, with some hints of what we found along the way. We will dive into ElasticSearch features and configurations and many hidden gems that are not always clear at the project's website. It will try to answer a lot of questions that many engineers have when deploying search systems: How to properly index your data How to make sense of relevancy How to make sure that users will have low latency responses How to scale to high demand scenarios (holidays)
