NY Video Meetup - March 22nd, 2012

  • March 22, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Hi Everyone,

We hope you are enjoying the nice weather outside! We want to thank all of you for sending over some great recommendations for a possible new venue. We are on the hunt and will let you know when we have chosen a new location. As for this month, we are excited to have our next meetup at AOL HQ and are thankful to them for hosting us. As always, we have some amazing presenters lined up and hope you can make it this Thursday for pizza, beer and some interesting demos! Check out who will be presenting below.

March Presenters:

Blake Whitman, VP of Creative Development and Justin Dickinson, Senior Web Designer, will be showing off a new version of Vimeo that is still in Beta mode. Vimeo was created by filmmakers and video creators who wanted to share their creative work, along with intimate personal moments of their everyday life. As time went on, like-minded people came to the site and built a community of positive, encouraging individuals with a wide range of video interests.

Scott Rosenberg, CEO & Co-Founder, will demo their companion TV app for the iPad that syncs to your TV program and gives you all kinds of content and conversation related to what you're watching. Rosenberg will also present some recently launched social features that let you share an image of what you're seeing (FreezeFrame's) and gives you a visual dashboard of the conversation occurring around a show. Umami was founded in 2010 with a goal of giving consumers a deeper, more engaging experience around their favorite TV shows, while providing TV networks and advertisers with a powerful new platform to brand and customize those experiences.

Wiredset Trendrr

Mark Ghuneim, CEO & Founder, and Richard Glosser, an Advisor to Wiredset Trendrr, will demo their NYC based company that is a leader in the area of Social TV. Trendrr.tv takes data from the social conversations around television shows on Twitter, Facebook, GetGlue, Miso and others and uses a natural language processing platform to analyze it for volume, velocity, sentiment, gender and location to provide analysis to marketers and researchers at over 50% of the major cable and broadcast networks.  In addition, Trendrr provides curation services to provide filtered social streams to media companies for use on-air, online and in-app.

Tal Even, Director of Business Development and Brand Advertising, will demo some examples of video units within games and some newly launched features of their business. Supersonic Ads is a market leading provider of in-social-game brand and direct response advertising solutions. They run video, brand engagement, and direct response campaigns across their network of over 500 leading games, publishers, and social networks.

Be part of the online video community and get your tickets while they are still available!

Came for Vimeo, and wasn't disappointed. The pizza/beer combo is a winning one.

I'm very sorry, but I must say this; I came in from Boston to attend this meetup, but was given a bad address for the AOL building. In the future I would recommend address with telephone number and cross streets of location that this will not happen in the future nor to anyone else.

Great group. This particular session was a little outside my professional focus but still met a good contact.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
