NY Video Meetup - April 19th, 2012

  • Apr 19, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Hi Everyone,

We are very excited for the next meetup and have picked out some great presenters. As always, we will have pizza, beer and some interesting demos! Check out who will be presenting below.

April Presenters:

Shorty Awards

The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short form content across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare, and the rest of the social Web. Greg Galant, CEO, will talk about how they curated and produced a lot of video with major celebs through's voting platform.

MyPod Studios

MyPod Studios launched in October, 2010 and was built to provide an alternative to the standard issue video networks that litter the Web, and take a slightly more unique approach to presenting online video. MyPod is a new video destination site for brands and professional content producers and Jason Miletsky, CEO, will demo their product.

Andrew Michael Baron, CEO, will speak about Rocketboom, a daily vlog, which will be relaunching April 23rd. Baron will also discuss the state of online video business today and where he thinks it is headed. After selling Know Your Meme, he has been super busy and has a lot to share with us.

Digital Laundry

Digital Laundry produces a hyperlocal program called eHarlemTV that airs monthly on cable in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx and via satellite to the rest of the country on FreeSpeechTV. All episodes are also available on the web. George Rivera, CEO and Executive Producer, will show some examples of successful hyper-local programming.

Be part of the online video community and get your tickets while they are still available!

While I don't directly have the need for content providers or networks, I really enjoyed learning about this aspect of video

Excellent cohesive panel that provided a nice view of Internet distrobution landscape. That being said, if I have one suggestion for improvement, it would be having at least one presenter talk about narrative content creating in addition to their distribution models.
