Introduction

My adoptive parents were great to me. At the age of 51, 2 years ago, I discovered my birth parents and have met them and many of my 29 birth siblings! I'd love to meet and talk with other adoptees. Has anyone read "The Primal Wound"?

How old were you when you first found out you were adopted?

I was 8 years old when I found out I was adopted. I felt good about it. I thought it made me "special". I had little knowledge at that time of the major impact it had on the way I see and interact with everything in life.

How did you find out and what was your reaction?

Used a search service. I think I was numb at first, but then felt that my entire life was turned inside out, but in a good way, as I reunited with my large birth family that included many siblings (having grown up an only child).

If you have an interest in finding your birth parents, what is the status of your search?

Found and reunited with my birth family on my father's side in 2003 and then my birth family on my mother's side in 2004.
