November Blues Jam at Boscoes

  • Nov 9, 2013 · 2:30 PM
  • Boscoes Sports Grill

Time for another blues jam at Boscoes. This November is our 6th year of jamming at Boscoes, and it will be their 7th anniversary (our first jam there was their 1st anniversary celebration). This will be a standard electric blues jam, just like normal. So get yourself tuned up for a good time. See you there!

Great jam! Thanks to all the backline providers and Richard for running a smooth jam. It was great to see new players participating as well as seeing members who havent attended for a while.

Richard, I amazed at how smooth you run these meet-ups. Sorry that I rushed you but you got me up there and it was a blast!!! Wish I could have stayed longer and watched everybody play. Thanks to all who bought me drinks!!! Mighty kind of you peoples! Thanks again Richard and keep the great job and one day you'll have 9100 people attending!

Great jam, lot's of great sets. I want to thank all of the backline suppliers, John A, Al B, Andrew, Rudy, and Lance. Tim had something come up that made him late, then he had to leave early to take care of it. These things happen, hope everything is alright today Tim. Thanks to Andrew for stepping up and making his amp available. I especially enjoyed the opening set with Andrew and the other backline suppliers. I threw some tricky things at Andrew and he didn't balk, he just went with them and did a tremendous job! I'm so impressed with him as a player, he has great things ahead of him. Thanks to Gary G and Paul C for their help in setting things up. And finally thanks to Jim F for bringing in another amp at the end of the jam so we could get everybody up.

I keep thinking about one thing that happened last night. The guys in the back had a toast to the US Marines. What a cool thing to do by a cool group of people!

If possible, I call drums. And if I happen to be up and "Tore Down" is called, any drummer is welcome to step in. Two simple requests, that's all I ask.

    • Lori C.

Think I'll be "the audience" on this one... ;)

      November 8, 2013

If anyone wants to do a bluesy version of "Sleepwalk" with me, let me know. Key of C.

    1 · November 8, 2013

      It's a simple variation of a heart-and-soul chord progression.

      I think it's C-Am-Fm-G, rinse & repeat

Maybe I'll play a little guitar this time? Be easy on my guys. No headcuttin'!

    Richard/Jim,
I noticed a lot of comments from the prior event regarding volume levels, getting people onto the board and mixes. Let me know if I can assist with the board and sound at these events. I know the volume will be dictated by overdriven tube amps, but I think there's lots of room to get the volume down from ear bleeding to rock'n roll levels if we can mic the cabs and push the pre-amp tubes with a pedals. Yeah, I know, some will want the main tubes driven and not the pre-amp, but if that's the case, there's no hope for volume control unless we get the tube amps down to blues junior type 15 watt amps (which maybe you do?). Anyway, I'm open to assist. It's been a few years, but I've worked sound boards for many years in the past, and used to sell and install the stuff as a side job. I'd be happy to help or put my time in behind the board if desired. Tom
