My favorite guitarists/performers - blues or not - are Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brian Setzer, The Strypes, Tab Benoit, George Thorogood, Tommy Emmanuel, KT Tunstall, and many of the good folks who play regularly at these meetups. :)
Sure, but don't expect Etta James.
I currently play bass... my favorite is a Gretsch G2220 short-scale. I also have a custom Carvin LB70 bass but haven't played it much since I got the Gretsch. I started out on guitar though. A standard MIM Tele is one of my favorites to play (thanks, BJ!). I also enjoy my Epiphone Alleykat (my first electric guitar), '77 Guild Bluesbird (thanks, Paul!), G&L Legacy HB Strat (thanks, eBay!), Epiphone Wildkat (pinstriped by Jimmy C.), and a 35-year-old Yamaha acoustic (thanks, Dad!). I can read music and grew up playing piano, but never enjoyed it enough to get very good at it. Currently dabbling on drums with Tyler Walton at Premiere Music.
I started on guitar but ended up playing bass in a rock cover band. These meetups are a great way to learn, and you won't find a more supportive or friendlier group! :)
