I live in Berkeley and am involved with Occupy Berkeley, which just got evicted. I'm originally from Brooklyn...I'm here for a week, until 12/28. I'd love to check out a GA, if they are happening. Let me know. Peace and solidarity!

I have been working at OWS and I believe we should concentrate our energy there. The occupation at Liberty Plaza is a symbol to people around the world. A lot of the people you see at Liberty Plaza are protest tourists and we need serious workers. The time and energy it would take to sustain a Brooklyn occupation would be better spent maintaining the occupation at Wall Street. I'm all for actions in Brooklyn but I think NYC energy should be focused at Wall Street

I've been working at OWS too, going in everyday from Brooklyn. i disagree with Jerry G about concentrating energy there. However I don't think we need an 'occupation' like the one in Zucotti park/ Liberty plaza in Brooklyn but rather we need a space or spaces --brooklyn is big, I'm in Flatbush, getting to manhattan is easier than getting to fort greene or the commons --preferably indoors, where we can meet, talk, build solidarity and organize ongoing actions.

The Occupy Brooklyn facebook page you link to is being administered by a UFO nut who is deleting serious posts and blocking anyone critical of the insanity being posted. You--the people running this website--need to do something about this immediately. Everyone--please consider 'liking' Occupy Brooklyn (critical) as an alternative facebook page where we post relevant announcements, links, updates, etc.

    Posted by Steven S. October 24, 2011
    • Todd B's Photo

@Steven - We hear you. The Internet Working Group has set up an alternate page to serve as the page for Brooklyn G.A.-approved information. It will be at Facebook.com/occupybrooklyn. We are not pushing this page widely until we receive G.A. consent, hopefully at the next meeting.

      Posted by Todd B October 24, 2011

Todd--Someone on Occupy Brooklyn (critical) suggested the following: the people who run Occupy Brooklyn (proper) need to go to that crazy Occupy Brooklyn page, click on "report this page", then "is this your intellectual property?", and then follow the directions from there.

I have an idea for a site: Metrotech. It is a POP park like Zuccotti, and is bigger and nicer with a Chase presence. http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp.... I would like the movement to spread to the outer boroughs and reach out to the 99%. It is right over the Manhattan Bridge and a march could be on Wall Street in 30 minutes. I think it is the perfect stop. Anyone else been and care to comment?

hey all, I just saw this. What do you guys think of the idea of Mini Occupy's ? I use the word mini because unlike the regular Occupy's, people would not sleep overnight. This would be a good alternative for those who want to participate, but are in wheelchairs, or some situation that makes "camping out" not an option. Also because these would be local, for those who want to be involved but have a hard time getting to NYC, this is an alternative. feedback? in solidarity, Michele

I was thinking perhaps prospect park? or perhaps a park in downtown brooklyn? could we have one on the boardwalk? or maybe break it down to those little triangles and squares. Bring it to more then one area of Brooklyn (like the Verizon protests did. they didn't just go in one spot, they went all over, even to the areas where it was unusual to see protests)

Seems that the operation needs to be expanded because of customer demand ... thats economics...so we are offering memberships in BKLYN perhaps as to some of our clientel might be having a hard time getting to the main branch or possibly because of wall street unable to afford the metro card do to fare hikes... to pay bonuses and dividends to our competitors dont worry we have no fine print no contracts to sign no pesky hidden charges and no risk of arrest and imprisonment for early withdrawal

We should as a movement concentrate on occupying the Pentagon and Wash. D.C. to End the Oil Wars that cost us 3 million dollars an hour. We just can not afford ?business as usual? any longer! But most of all we must stop the global terrorism waged by U.S. Allied Military Industrial (fossil fuel/nuke) Complex Inc.

In advance of Saturday's rally, OccupyBrooklyn should issue a reminder for those coming by subway that the 4/5, not the 2/3 (though they will be running on the local track) will be stopping at Grand Army Plaza this weekend and the Q is not running between Prospect Park and 57th & 7th. The Plaza is also within walking distance of 7th avenue on the F/G and the Botanic Garden station on the Franklin Avenue Shuttle (for anyone coming from the A/C).

Is it possible to inform the media that together as a collective we work toward a common goal. Also we do NOT want to take away from OCCUPY WALL STREET! We support them and are here to help!
Another MAJOR misconception the media has aAGAINST our organization is on Sat Oct 15th we all intend to "OCCUPY" the Farmer's market (Grand Army Plaza). That is false... "Rally" means to gather up, recruit etc.... NOT OCCUPY!

Great point, DP. All of us need to ensure in our conversations with the media that we convey that message.
