THEY TRY TO SELL YOU FEAR

The 1% who control our government, media and economy threaten us with death and imprisonment if we don’t respect their corporate property. They threaten us with homelessness and starvation if we refuse to produce for their earth-destryoing, soul-degrading consumerist economy. They tell us if we don’t submit to the coercive, violent tactics of their military police state or we will be exterminated by communists, Islamic terrorists, or some other phantom menace.

WE BRING A MESSAGE OF JOY AND LOVE

The world we want to build is one where local, autonomous communities use fully inclusive decision making to meet everyone’s needs in an ecologically sustainable manner. It’s a world without the hierarchical relationships of rich and poor, ruled and rulers, police and policed, that characterize our lives today. And it’s a world that we are already building through the ways we share space and make decisions in the Occupy encampments.

OCCUPY THE EARTH

We don’t want reforms, we don’t even want a revolution, or at least not a political one where the current 1% are replaced with another set of leaders — we simply want to occupy the planet in a way that allows our lives to be full of joy instead fear. In the past political philosophers alligned with socialism, communism, or anarchism have talked about creating this sort of society, but for us it transcends all ideological schisms. We simply want sustainable, inclusive, autonomous local communities where we can make decisions together face to face and work side by side to meet our needs.
