To remain viable and respected, I think we need to remove all the tents from public areas downtown. Living there is squatting, not occupying, and the sanitation and other problems make us look slovenly.
We also do not want to hide behind masks, because this implies that we need to hide our identities for some reason.
We should respect the rights of all passersby, not enter private land or buildings, and maintain good appearance and presentation to be respected.

Peacock - You are a cowardly Fox News Zombie - you know nothing, you spout hate, and you couldn't name one REAL fact if your life depended on it.

Everyone Else - Thrilled to see you on here, and I WILL BE THERE at this rally tomorrow in Denver at Noon with a dear New Yorker friend of mine to stand in solidarity with our AMERICAN HEROES and also the conviction of Jefferson, Jackson and our founding fathers who HATED banks and corporations and did the right things. Now we need to as well!

There is no help for you her or anywhere. Try as you might and keep being the Charlie Sheen "winners" in your minds everyday. Just want to say a big thanks for all the great posts of clarification. Keep talking to yourselves, do enough hits and you too will "solve the worlds problems"and come up with your lines. You folks are truly an INCREDIBLE bunch of people... every time you open your mouths.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Look at the stupid little teatard! Someone must be feeling threatened!!! Violence? Um, what violence? You mean the girl being pepper sprayed by the cop? YOU are the violent people, killing abortion doctors, flying airplanes into IRS buildings, shooting security guards at Jewish museums, dragging black men behind pickup trucks, beating gay people. Truth is not much of what you said is even decipherable. Typical teatard grammar. People like you make me feel smarter than i am

      Fuckhahaha@ Alton.
Alton, even though I know you weren't anyway, don't listen to these people who doubt the power of public socratic seminar. This entire movement is about debate. We're not suppose to agree with one another, that's impossible. Because this "99%" stuff sounds real nice but part of that 99% are child molesters, rapists, sociopaths (like PeaCOCK^), etc. And I don't want them on our team, which is the whole point of debate: allowing intelligence and wisdom to reign over ignorance.

A little more on this, here is something Bill and everyone else needs to understand about Bullies. If you ignore them, they DO NOT go away, they are emboldened and they attack you MORE, NOT LESS, and take away MORE from you. This is what neocons, wrong and mean as they are, understand, and too many progressives don't. So they have decided to bully to get what they want, which is getting rid of us. THAT is reality. So you have to stop bullies with opposition and force. Deal with it.

There were easily over 1000 people at the march saturday. Some people even joined in as it was happening. One of the cops' cars began pulsing their whistle in rhythm to the crowds' chanting. The police were really on their best, as was the crowd. Great atmosphere and feeling all around. There will be even more people at the next event!

I couldn't agree more - this is just the beginning. Regardless of what the MSM or Fox "reports" about the Occupy movements all over the country from Wall Street to Denver - The. Movement. Has. Started. I am also reminded of what Lao Tzu said - "The journey of a thousand miles starts with just one step." Or a march down Colfax and end up at the Fed!

The small group seems to be protesting different things. One person is protesting the Nov 1st ballot proposal to raise taxes even more for education. Another was promoting going onto private property to protest, which is illegal. This will lead to police action. We hope it doesn't get violent.
In all, it seems like a rag tag bunch of wet people who are very loosely organized, and many of whom are just showing up because it is an "event" to hang out at.

I just want to say I went today, marched all the way back and forth on Colfax, and to the Fed and back. It was really really great and reassuring to me so many of us feel the same way about Wall Street, the Fed, and were brave enough to brave the elements, get over feeling tired and make our voices heard together. What is the plan for sanitary facilities at Broadway and Colfax? It would not be right to traipse in and out of nearby businesses to dirty their facilities, or to hang out in their restaurants when it rains.

    • Scott Womack's Photo

I have a news flash for you, rain happens, businesses know this and have mops and people to handle that. 2nd news flash, more people out means more profit for these businesses. People marching or watching have something to talk about, HEY let's get a bite to eat and talk about it. Cha-ching. 3rd news flash. If you are spending money there you have a right to use the bathroom. Your post clearly rests on some dumb assumptions. Next time save yourself the effort.

I would really love to also see this group do VERY loud vocal demonstrations in front of Bank of America, Wells, and Chase. It is really needed to intrimidate them and dissuade people from keeping or opening accounts there. Hello Occupy Denver! I'm looking for independent reporters for a new podcast called "The Occupants". I've set up a number you can call and leave a message reporting on the event you're at. All kinds of exciting things happen when you make people stop and take notice of you, and we're looking to help create a verbal picture of the Occupy movement from the participants in their own words. What "facts"? You have yet to state any facts other than you believing in violence. It must really anger you what is happening right now. I love knowing how threatened evil people like you are by us Real Americans demanding that our voices be heard. If you hate the USA so much, why don't you just leave? There are over 100 people downtown right now. I know you hate that. Why do you want to Kill America? You are a traitor for that.

Thank you Nancy. And I am sad that Peacock is so frustrated and full of hate. I send you love and light. And wishes that you too find a way to love yourself as much as you think you hate everyone else.
We are not your enemy. We are here to help create change, To open awareness. Times are hard for most of us not only Americans but across the world. The many will be heard and the few will HAVE to take notice. Spewing anger and hatred gives them credence we have no truth to what we say. Blessings.

Not that we necessarily are for that either I don't think this has to be a destructive demolition of life as we and they know it... BUT, CHANGE can be painful and challenging for all of us.Sacrifices need to be made. I believe we no longer have a choice. We need to stand together and show the world we will not be quite and go along any longer!
We want Change, we DEMAND Change and we demand it NOW! Corporations and Politicians will take notice. United Through persistence we will be Heard.

These 99% rallies are being ignored or belittled. We should consider having additional rallies at local TV station office buildings. All of them. Particularly the home offices of ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. Call the rallys "DO YOUR JOB".

Posted by John Hanson October 8, 2011
  • KB 's Photo

I agree NON Violence is the only way we ever be truly heard.
And that some are trying to ignore and belittle this movement.
If we begin being violent they will dismiss this as a bunch of rioters.
If we stay calm and excited, passionate and focused Then we will have a message that is heard.
Of course it won't be easy those that have control do not want to give it up. Wouldn't you be afraid if someone seemingly wanted to take away your way of life?

My best to all of you. I will be harvesting vegetables today to donate to charity, and hopefully not getting drenched in rain...

I admire the courage and tenacity for those that are participating. I would share the sentiment about remembering non-violence... It is not us against them, as there is only one of us. It is us saying that we choose not to continue to play the game by the rules that have been accepted for years. We are making that change. That just feeds lower energy. Namaste.

Please take charge and join in your own area if you don't have a group already make one lets make some change happen. For our selves and future generations. Why are they trying to set up additional occupy events in the Denver metro area? Shouldn't we try to get as many people in Denver as possible. It seems counter-productive to have 10 people in Boulder, 10 in Lakewood, 10 in Arvada... instead of those 30 people joining the people already in Denver.

I totally agree with this, Jeanette. The problem with our government is that they've become mere puppets, allowing their strings to be pulled by giant corporations. We need to get the money out of politics, and then, and only then, will we the people take back the power promised us by the U.S.

The VA saved my life and put me into a homeless shelter. I have since got a voucher from the VA for a apartment. I am now 62 and on Social Security Retirement. I worked hard all my life and because I did not fit in to what society considers normal. I became a throw away person.

I have been unemployed 90 weeks! I won't last much longer if I dont find work. I have an $8,000 school loan to start paying back as soon as I find work. I am disgusted with the american lifestyle and attitude.

I have been employed now for 1 month and VERY fortunate to have found work. During my search there were 40-50 people applying for the each positions I was. Good luck!!

Folks, it is important to uderstand who is actually behind these protests, and what the behind-the-scenes purpose is. Check these out:

I am still attending on the 8th, but I will aim my frustration at the true culprits, the government leaders who have failed us, and not somewhere else that they are trying to repoint us to. I will not fall for their subterfuge.
    See you on Saturday !

Anyone else want to head from Boulder to Denver as a group?

Similar to Michael McCann, I have a decent job and I'm not in crippling debt. I stand with the people in solidarity against corporatism in our country!!! We need to act now, to stop mega-conglomerates from, literally, buying their own legislation in Washington and creating a corporate, facist state! "If you stand for nothing; you will fall for everything....."

I'll make no assumptions that lawmakers are perfect by any stretch but, not seeing the more immediate danger of conglomerate controlled lobbyists weilding influence over those lawmakers, in my opinion, is foolish and irresponsible. Yes, let's direct all of our frustration at the people who are influenced by the money and disregard the multi-billion-dollar sponsors of said influential monies? Are you sure?
As for me and my house, we'll focus on stopping corporatism!!!

Out of town Saturday and just heard about this, but hope that a real movement will begin and grow in Denver and Colorado for citizens to rise up and challenge corporate takeover of our democracy. Also jazzed seeing "Move Your Money" movement beginning to take root to get folks out of the big 4 banks which refuse transparency, keep foreclosing, won't give loans to small businesses, and complain about loss of profit when they are booming. Keep the faith.

I'm just so happy to see a real grassroots movement that is targeting the issue of class and greed. Something long ignored in this country. I can only hope that it will uncover other issues that desperately need attention.

Good going. I hope the people of the Metro Area wake up to the real plight they're in as the corporations, with Citizens United behind them, smell blood and our Sec. of State, Scott Gessler is taking away their right to vote. I'll come Saturday with snacks for you people. --Group Captain Lionel Mandrake

I hope everyone here will send e-mails, tweets, FB and phone messages to everyone they know in Colorado to get a huge turn out. We need to stand strong with the whole nation so Washington, Wall St. and the press can no longer ignore our resolve that the crooks will not be allowed to further distroy our country. Let this be the beginning of the end of their corruption on our people and economy!
