Truett Cathy, well-known founder of beloved Chic-fil-A, shares how his company creates a fulfilling work environment while also effectively retaining their employees. He speaks of several methods, including paying his employees a little more than industry standards, in order to attract quality individuals. He also inbreeds (as they are trained) a high level of respect for each other and each customer. He teaches the joy of serving as opposed to simply fulfilling a duty when working as seen in the response you receive when you say "Thank you" to a Chic-fil-A employee; the response you get is "My pleasure" as opposed to "No problem." Philosophically and practically there is a big difference. He also rewards his employees. One example is the scholarship money that high school students can earn toward college with a certain number of hours served...and on and on. By the way, the retention rate of their store operators? ... About 97.5% annually! His employees are made to feel like they belong and are intentionally cultivated to stay for the long-term.
With all the flack from intolerant hate groups around the country, It's time to stand behind and support this fine company that serves some of the most delicious chicken I for one, have ever tasted. August 1 is Appreciate Chick-fil-A day across the country. Come early because there will be long lines.
