Occupying public spaces with inclusive encampments, where everyone has a voice and everyone is taken care of, is a powerful act of rebellion against corporate capitalism and its lackey states. But if we want to inaugurate a world of sustainable, egalitarian, inculsive communities it’s not enough. We need general strikes in every community, where workers stop producing for the benefit of the 1%, and get together with the unemployed to occupy fields, shops and factories. We need to hold general assemblies to decide how we can collectively reorganize our society in line with ecological principles, and the philosophy “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need.” For this to succeed, we need a majority of those who currently identify as police or military to defect from guarding the 1% and their property, and join us. So the question for all of Occupiers is, how will we make this happen?
