More Info
Join together with your fellow citizens to show this nation that we are aware of the injustices, and that we will peacefully assemble in solidarity with the International Day of Occupation on October 15th.

This is NOT a movement against authority, this is NOT a movement against police, this IS a peaceful movement of awareness!

Thanks for your support! Come voice your ideas, we have three proposed general assembly meetings over the coming days to talk about the event next weekend, and to listen to the public before the event. Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th, both at 2pm at Esther Short Park near the center band-shell. And also, Wednesday the 12th at 6pm, same location.

There is a meeting in Esther Short Park at 6pm on FRIDAY October 14th.

How come there's nothing new on here. I was at the Occupy Vancouver on the 15th and the GA on Tues the 18th and am expecting to March again tomorrow, Saturday the 22nd. But I'm surprised I don't see anything here about those events.
I got hacked and so dropped my FB a few weeks ago and so am hoping to keep up on things using this and the Tuesday evening meetings.

I loved the atmosphere we walked in today. Everyone respected each other, many motorist's joined in, the police were supporting and such a surprise to see they all volunteered on their day off to join us! It is a great beginning to an on going movement! Very proud to have been a part of this group, with millions around the world protesting today, is the extra bonus!

I'm guessing our town had about 800 or more show up too! The line was very long along the sidewalks, and we filled up the Evergreen Blvd. bridge on both sides.

Rush Limbaugh said on his radio that those funding the "Occupy" movement were a bunch of anti-Semites. This means everyone participating in this movement are wittingly and unwittingly promoting anti-semitism, which is a hate crime in the U.S. and most of Europe. Those who are speaking from under the "Occupy" umbrella are doing the same thing as the Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan. You are simply continuing the "Final Solution" against the Jews and the unions' and the KKK's hatred of BLACKS.

It is interesting to note that you recently took part in the "We the people" Historic Radical Republican Rally in this last July.

hmph see I didn't need to look all that up, pinned you as an republican, but maybe these others would like to know? Makes sense your weird view points and the fact you actually would quote something Limbaugh would say.

I am so happy I found this! I have 3 kids to support and cannot feasibly drive in to Portland to camp with the occupiers, but my heart supports them completely and now, finally, I can show it in some small way! So excited to lend another face to this universal voice. Well, four faces. The kids are going to learn about what matters on Saturday!

I have to miss this one. I was at the Portland one, though, from Noon to 5 PM. If anything changes, I'll be there. Sooo Glad Vancouver is now having one.

One possiblity since Esther Short Park is "closed" after 10 PM, would be to run it like a work release program. Have everyone who can, show up each morning and stay until 10 PM, that way we're having a visiblity and not being closed down.

Occupy is about social and economic justice. Exclusionary zoning is neither social justice nor economic justice. You can help end exclusionary zoning by signing a white house petition here http://wh.gov/gvP I've also posted 'Exclusionary Zoning Unconstitutional' at http://jamesrherman.newsvin... to elaborate.

This is great to see the people of vancouver coming together for this movement. I have been to several of Portland marches and general assemblies and will be happy to support my local community as well. I will be communicating on twitter with the tag #OccupytheCouve unless we already have a designated tag.

Renn, yeah we are using the #occupythecouve on twitter. :-)

Yes, I am curious as the folks below are if this is a full occupation or just a one time thing. I have been lending my support to PDX occupation and feel torn now.

Marcia, currently this is just a one-day event. We are going to march and then support Occupy Portland by sending people who want to camp over to portland.

I take it that this is not an "Occupy", with people here 24/7 - but is just a 1-time 3 hr. gathering.

Leonard, that is up for discussion currently.

I would like to meet in Vancouver. Vancouver needs its own site, and not in Portland. What about in front of where the library USED to be on Mill Plain across from the PUD. I guess it's empty now.

Deanna, the proposed place is Esther Short Park, it's right downtown and in the middle of everything.

Is someone putting up a public FaceBook page? That seems to be the first place folks are looking for Occupy places. I'm working all day Sat. 10/15 but would consider getting involved here, if there is more outreach. I've been putting a lot of time in over at Ptld. Posting this on FaceBook. Please let me know if there is going to be a FB page. Thanks! ~Carin'
