Oceanblue Divers is making our maiden Dive 'n' Dash voyage to Grand Cayman. Enjoy 4 nights/3 days of diving!

Where:
Sunset House, Grand Cayman

When:
November 11-15, 2009†

Cost:
$749 (per person, double occupancy)

Extras:
$299 Single supplement*
$199 (fee for Open Water/Checkout dives for those who need them)****
$65 Stingray City dive††

This trip is also known as "Dive 'n' Dash meets Dive Your Face Off!" Why, you might ask? Well, those who've been on our week-long D.Y.F.O. trips know that they always include loads of diving, often with unlimited shore diving so you can literally dive until your face falls off (we've had numerous Oceanblue members come back faceless).

Even though this is one of our shorter Dive 'n' Dash trips, it still includes unlimited shore diving! So, after the two daily morning boat dives and a leisurely lunch, you can pick up a tank anytime and jump right into the water to explore the house reef. This means in three days you can easily dive your entire face off! Thrill and amaze your friends when you come home without a face!

The price is right for this package, and time is limited (you only have until September 25 to RSVP) so sign up today to reserve your spot!

We'll be staying at Sunset House, which is right on the water on Grand Cayman and near all the action of George Town. The dive operation is onsite, and the resort is set up for divers by divers!

Check out the teaser:

Tiger Beach

Some people travel to the Bahamas for conch salad and boating, but were there for a whole different type of experience. We went to dive with sharks, but not just any type of shark, Tiger Sharks. Tiger Sharks are known as one of the most dangerous predators in the ocean. With their unmistakable brownish grey stripes, blunt nose and big dark eyes when one cruises by there is no question as to what it is. Our destination was Tiger Beach, a shallow 20ft deep sandbar located about 20 miles North of Grand Bahama. This area has a deep water drop off, a perfect habitat for the tiger shark. The area is also home to several other species of sharks such as Lemon sharks and Great Hammerheads. We set out with no chainmail, no cages only cameras to document these magnificent animals. The very curious 12-15 foot sharks come extremely close to divers creating great moments for underwater photography and video.

Bio:

Becky has always been attracted to water, but her curiosity about what lay beneath the waves really became an obsession from a young age. She always knew documenting the underwater world is what she wanted to do. Becky is a professional videographer both above and below the surface. As an award winning Photojournalist she has worked for major news networks including CBS and Fox News, shooting video in all types of situations from major hurricanes to the Presidential Election. She has over 15 years of dive experience logging thousands of hours underwater in various conditions and extreme environments. She's a NAUI Instructor, and holds certifications in Cave diving, Trimix, Nitrox, and several Rebreathers. Her projects have taken her all over the globe from shooting video of WWII wrecks in Truk Lagoon, beautiful walls in Fiji, Sharks in the Bahamas, to photographing the vast underground cave systems in Mexico. She has acquired a client list including National Geographic, The Military channel, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the National Park Service using the latest in HD and 3-D technology. Becky’s still photographs and articles have been published in Advanced Diver Magazine, Dive Training, Books and used in advertising. She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Tampa.

Becky was an underwater cameraman and Talent on the TV series "Quest for Sunken Warships" airing on the Military Channel & Discovery science. She's also worked on several projects with the National Park Service diving in Lake Mead documenting invasive Quagga muscles and a B-29 bomber that crash landed in the lake in 1948. Last year she released her first full length DVD "The Mill Pond Experience "exploring three of Marianna Florida's beautiful cave systems. She's currently working on several other "above the surface" documentaries for different production companies.

Teaching scuba for 10 years now she's worked in may facets of the dive industry from retail, education to the Shark dive Experience at the Florida Aquarium. One of the biggest rewards of her career has been sharing her passion of diving with others by introducing hundreds of students to the underwater world, and leading dive excursions around the globe.

Becky feels fortunate to be able to combine her two passions in life, photography and diving. She focuses on capturing extreme environments such as wreck penetration and caves, but also believes in conservation through education and there is no better way to educate someone about our underwater world than through compelling imagery. Having lived in Florida over 12 years, nothing makes Becky happier than creatively photographing and sharing the beautiful environments found in her backyard that she holds so dear to hear heart, from the Manatee's to the breathtaking beauty of light rays pouring into a submerged cavern.

NAUI NITROX DIVER*

Always been interested in getting your Nitrox certification but don't know that much about it?

Here's a short list of some of the reasons why people dive using Nitrox:Extend bottom time
Take on less nitrogen during your dives
Shorten surface intervals
Come up from your dives feeling fewer effects from nitrogen

Nitrox or EAN (Enriched Air Nitrox) used to only be for technical divers, but is now commonly used in recreational diving. NAUI was the first dive association to offer Nitrox training to recreational divers and they have always led the way in dive safety true to their slogan "Dive Safety Through Education"

True to our mission, Oceanblue Divers is offering a comprehensive NAUI Nitrox course that will go beyond the standard curriculum that is included in other courses, but for the same price!

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the prestigious NAUI Nitrox Diver certification card. You will be diving with the confidence and knowledge that you are well trained and have experience relevant to your activities. At Oceanblue Divers we go by the adage that "more is more!" with regard to training.

Under instructor supervision and after completing one classroom session, students will go to Dutch Springs (schedule to be determined based on student availability) to complete two dives where tanks will be analyzed and M.O.D.'s (Maximum Operating Depths) will be determined according to the NAUI Nitrox tables.

Among the things you will learn in this course:What is Nitrox?
History of Nitrox
Why dive Nitrox
Common misconceptions about Nitrox
Gas properties, behaviors
Choosing the right blend for your dive
Gas analysis
Much more!

Cost and payment:

Course: $99
Materials: $57.95
Dives: $50 (will be charged upon booking)
