Our apologies, but there has been a venue change (for the better!) to Bar 13 on 13th and University.
This month:
We're kicking the new year off right with award-winning photojournalist and videographer, Becky Kagan, who will show photos and videos of diving with Tiger Sharks at the Bahamas' famed Tiger Beach!
Becky has been where a select few divers go to document some of the most interesting apex predators in the oceans, Tiger Sharks. See her bio below for more details, but suffice to say that her resume is packed with accomplishments both above and below the water. You won't want to miss this special night! Celebrate beginning another year of Oceanblue Happy Hours with us.

There will be food for purchase prepared by Island Snow Catering, so bring your appetite! (See menu at the bottom of this page.)
ALSO, there will be DRINK SPECIALS: 2-for-1 well vodka, beer and wine!
Come on down to Bar 13 for our January Happy Hour and:

Tiger Beach:
Some people travel to the Bahamas for conch salad and boating, but we were there for a whole different type of experience. We went to dive with sharks, but not just any type of shark, Tiger Sharks. Tiger Sharks are known as one of the most dangerous predators in the ocean. With their unmistakable brownish grey stripes, blunt nose and big dark eyes, when one cruises by there is no question as to what it is. Our destination was Tiger Beach, a shallow 20ft deep sandbar located about 20 miles North of Grand Bahama. This area has a deep water drop off, a perfect habitat for the Tiger Shark. The area is also home to several other species of sharks such as Lemon Sharks and Great Hammerheads. We set out with no chainmail, no cages -- only cameras -- to document these magnificent animals. The very curious 12-15 foot sharks come extremely close to divers creating great moments for underwater photography and video.
Bio:
Becky has always been attracted to water, but her curiosity about what lay beneath the waves really became an obsession from a young age. She always knew documenting the underwater world is what she wanted to do. Becky is a professional videographer both above and below the surface. As an award winning Photojournalist she has worked for major news networks including CBS and Fox News, shooting video in all types of situations from major hurricanes to the Presidential Election. She has over 15 years of dive experience logging thousands of hours underwater in various conditions and extreme environments. She's a NAUI Instructor, and holds certifications in Cave diving, Trimix, Nitrox, and several Rebreathers. Her projects have taken her all over the globe from shooting video of WWII wrecks in Truk Lagoon, beautiful walls in Fiji, Sharks in the Bahamas, to photographing the vast underground cave systems in Mexico. She has acquired a client list including National Geographic, The Military channel, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the National Park Service using the latest in HD and 3-D technology. Becky’s still photographs and articles have been published in Advanced Diver Magazine, Dive Training, Books and used in advertising. She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Tampa.
Becky was an underwater cameraman and Talent on the TV series "Quest for Sunken Warships" airing on the Military Channel & Discovery science. She's also worked on several projects with the National Park Service diving in Lake Mead documenting invasive Quagga muscles and a B-29 bomber that crash landed in the lake in 1948. Last year she released her first full length DVD "The Mill Pond Experience "exploring three of Marianna Florida's beautiful cave systems. She's currently working on several other "above the surface" documentaries for different production companies.
Teaching scuba for 10 years now she's worked in may facets of the dive industry from retail, education to the Shark dive Experience at the Florida Aquarium. One of the biggest rewards of her career has been sharing her passion of diving with others by introducing hundreds of students to the underwater world, and leading dive excursions around the globe.
Becky feels fortunate to be able to combine her two passions in life, photography and diving. She focuses on capturing extreme environments such as wreck penetration and caves, but also believes in conservation through education and there is no better way to educate someone about our underwater world than through compelling imagery. Having lived in Florida over 12 years, nothing makes Becky happier than creatively photographing and sharing the beautiful environments found in her backyard that she holds so dear to hear heart, from the Manatee's to the breathtaking beauty of light rays pouring into a submerged cavern.
