Q. How often is this meet-up held?
A. Totally randomly but it seems to be about every one to three months.

Q. Does this meet-up cost anything?
A. This meet-up is free, but since there are flaming sculptures and fire poofers, we use a fair amount of propane. A donation box is there but only if you are so inclined. Donations are cheerfully accepted but not necessary.

Q. Can I bring my kids?
A. No, no one under 18 due to the liability incurred with fire.

Q. Can I hire a fire performer for a party?
A. Yes, email LunarTool on the meet-up site. Prices vary.

Q. Can we meet at the beach or at a park?
A. Generally no, we need to be at a private location due to insurance concerns and the police that can shut down flame performers if they feel like it.

Q. What can I expect at one of these Flame-up meet-ups?
A. A lot of chill friendly people who are willing to teach, perform, observe and/or photograph. You can kind of get an idea from looking at our past Flame-ups photos.

Q. How long does the fire spinning go on for?
A. Flame ups at 1925 Young generally goes from 7:00 pm until midnight but the fire poofer ends at 10:00 pm with music also toned down at 10:00 pm due to neighbor concerns. DiGUMS at 6142 Dundee is a much longer and later event going generally from 8:00 until late (sometimes morning).

Q. Is it only fire toys
A. No, we also do glow, flags, unicycles etc. We got a lotta clowns here.

Q. Can I bring a guest?
A. Yes, the more the merrier

Q. How many people usually show up?
A. 20-50

Q. What should I bring?
A. If you are a performer, fuel. If you are an observer, something that you like to eat and drink, but bring a little bit more to share with others.

Q. How big is the fire spinning space?
A. The Placentia Pleasure Palace's (1925 Young) traditional performance space is 15'x20' (but some people perform on the walkway around the pool). DiGUM's performance space (6142 Dundee) is 15'x25'

Q. What kind of music is played at these events
A. All kinds, but electronic, trance seems, for now, predominent. If you are a performer, at Flame-ups (1925 Young) there is an iPod/iPhone jack with amplified speakers for your own performing music.

Q. What is the skill level of the people?
A. Varies from novice beginner to professional performers

Q. Can I get a fire lesson?
A. Yes, we are always willing to share.

Q. No, I mean I REALLY want to learn. I'm SERIOUS!
A. Check out professional lessons at The best, hands down, fire teachers.

Q. Has anyone burned themselves at this meet-up?
A. Yes, but not seriously

Q. How dangerous is fire play
A. Very dangerous, run for your life! Safety is third.
