Introduction
Hi, everyone! I moved to Athens at the beginning of the summer, and I'm a student at UGA.. So far, I've been loving Athens and having a lot of fun, but I'd really like to meet some more people and get out and have some fun!
What are your favorite outdoor activities?
Hang gliding is my absolute favorite--nothing compares to flying through the air and actually being able to control where you're going! I also love whitewater rafting, kayaking, spelunking, hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding...pretty much everything and anything! I love being outside and experiencing nature in adventurous and unforgettable ways.
Where is the coolest place you've been?
Tough question, I've been to so many fun places! I guess I would have to say that, for me personally, the coolest place I've ever experienced was at 3,000 feet in the air over Lookout Mountain, when I was hang gliding. It was just such an amazing experience for me, and even though I'm sure there are cooler locations, that experience made it the coolest for me so far.
What's the most adventurous thing you've done?
Hmmmm, another tough question. I guess I would have to say that the thing that's seemed like the most adventurous thing I've ever done was spelunking in the Tumbling Rocks caves in Alabama. This came across as more adventurous to me than hang gliding, whitewater rafting, etc. because caves are a bit more intimidating to me. It's not the dark or the closeness of the walls/ceiling, it's the difficulty of having to find your own way, scrambling over rock formations and such, and not knowing if you're going to succeed when you decide on a path to take. It always feels amazing when I finish, though, knowing that I have "conquered" the dreaded cave, lol!
Where is your favorite getaway spot?
I love Lookout Mountain, and that whole area (it's close to Chattanooga, TN). There are many fun activities to partake in, and I always have a blast. I also love Charleston, SC for relaxing and having a great time with friends, and pretty much anywhere in NC.
How did you hear about Outdoor Club South?
I was already a member of Meetup and active in a few groups in Augusta before I moved to Athens, so I just searched for groups in the area here, and I was very happy to see that there's an outdoor group! :)
