The Study of Myth Symposium

From August 31 to September 2, 2012 a symposium titled The Study of Myth, will be held at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. Our MRT will present a paper under the heading:

Joseph Campbell's use of Mythology as Narrative Superstructure and the Web.

This initiative is under the auspices of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, the Pacifica Graduate Institute and Opus Archives. Anyone interested in attending see the It is possible to get accomodation on the Pacifica Ladera Lane Campus.

A successful symposium would mean that Pacifica might set up a department devoted to mythology which would be a very signficant event.

The symposium went off very well and we should see some results appear between now and Christmas. I've uploaded some photos but for those curious, the full set of photos can be seen at:

When looking at the photos it is useful to remember that there are three distinct entities: Pacifica Graduate Institute, Opus Archives (situation on PGI's campus) and the Joseph Campbell Foundation. While all three share an interest in mytyhology, and collaborate, their priorities are somewhat different.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
