Play by day and play by night. Las Vegas is not just about gambling anymore! Spend up to 4 days exploring the amazing landscapes around Las Vegas while everyone else is suffering through the dreaded family reunion over Thanksgiving. Then switch from grubby jeans to swanky outfits for evenings and nights out on the town.
What you will see
· Valley of Fire State Park (where I saw them filming an Italian sports car commercial - that's how amazing this place is!)
· Hoover Dam (walk on the new Memorial Bridge spanning the Colorado River directly above the dam)
· Red Rock Canyon
What you might do in Vegas
Catch a show. Go shopping. See incredible art. Explore one (or all) of the themed hotel resorts from ancient Egypt, to medieval Venice to modern New York and many more. Watch the amazing Bellagio fountains. Have a spa treatment. Gamble. And of course, photograph amazing neon lights. Just remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
What you may learn:
· How to capture a sense of place in a grand landscape
· Techniques for night photography, neon lights and long exposure motion images
· How to incorporate lines, shapes and textures for more interesting compositions
· How to isolate subject matter with macro photography
· How to approach people and create more intimate portraits
· How to tell a story with a series of images

There will be lots of flexibility in the itinerary, with various options besides photography, such as hiking, sightseeing, as well as all that Vegas has to offer.
First two people to register can share a ride in my Subaru Forester (split gas) as I will be driving to Vegas leaving San Francisco on Monday or Tuesday.

Australian-born photographer Christine Krieg has travel running through her veins. She was hooked after flying over the Amazon while photographing mile-high Angel Falls over 20 years ago. Since then she has photographed and written about many exotic and beautiful places from South America to Australia to Europe to Southeast Asia, and California of course. The more remote and difficult it is to reach a destination, the more excited she is to go there. She loves to share her passion for the beautiful and amazing world we live in and her love of photography with everyone she meets. Come join her on a workshop and allow her enthusiasm to inspire you to see with new eyes.
Her work has been published in newspapers and magazines. She has officially been teaching photography since 2006 (unofficially ever since she picked up a camera.) In addition to teaching her own travel workshops on location www.meetup.com/off-camera-flash, she also guest instructs with Image Quest Tours. She currently calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. You can follow her work at www.cksworld.com and make friends with her on Facebook (Christine Krieg).
