Photowalk: San Francisco Christmas Lights

REJOICE! Not only is it the holiday season, but the free monthly photowalks are back!

This month we will capture some of the seasonal holiday lights, window displays, Christmas trees and jolly Santas in and around Market Street and Union Square.

If you want to practice OCF, I recommend keeping it as simple as possible, such as  using a "strobe on a rope" and shooting like the one-armed bandit. (As I will.)  Or triggering wirelessly and still shooting like the one-armed bandit. I expect this area to be full of people, providing lots of opportunities for spontaneous portraiture, but not great for loads of equipment to keep track off. So keep it light and be aware.

I will be there at 3:45 and we will set off at 4pm on the dot.

Easy access via bus, Muni and BART. Parking garages at 5th & Mission, O'Farrell and Union Square.

Sorry you missed us Maxine. Yes it was very crowded, but certainly to be expected on the last Sunday before Christmas! Hope you still stayed to shoot.

Perfect location for hustle and bustle of pre-Christmas shopping. Lots of people, lights and action.

Wish I had known how crowded it was both people and driving. I live in Novato so chose to drive in. Took at least half hr longer than my google map told me, as traffic was so slow. Otherwise once I got adjusted to this delay it was fine.

I am very excited about this afternoon's walk. don't let the overcast weather scare you away. It's perfect oft lighting for portraits and closeup details.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
