How would you characterize your off-camera flash experience?

Extensive experience. I also own a decent Travelite 2 light studio radio triggered setup from Calumet Photo here in SF.

Introduction

I've been into photography for over 30 years. I started using off camera flashes almost immediately - remember the old strobes with brackets on 35mm cameras in the 70's? I have a Canon 7D with a Speedlite that I use off camera all the time.
