What a nice walk yesterday at Strathcona Off leash park. I really enjoyed the park and the company. Met lot's of new members with their dogs. Thanks to Jane and her dog Lucy for taking the lead on this one. I'd never been to the park but I certainly will be going back! Tonight I met up with Nicole and her dog Jax from 'The Naked Dog' to check out the St Albert Off Leash park. Another beautiful park! I've only really been to the Edmonton parks and now I'm exploring the surrounding areas. Very exciting! I'm going to schedule our next meetup at St. Albert Off Leash for Saturday, October 10th. This park has an indoor enclosed area where we will meet. Nicole will be bringing some of her winter wear (boots, jackets & sweaters, etc) if you wish to get your dog fitted for winter. The quality of her items are excellent. I took my oldest dog Sam tonight (he's 10) to get fitted for boots as he froze his feet a long time ago and has a hard time in the winter. I've tried a lot of boots for him but the ones Nicole sells are excellent. Very easy for me to get his feet in and out of and there is no way he will be getting out of these ones! Anyway, enough rambling on. Nicole will be at the park in the indoor area from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on that day for anyone that would like to get their dog fitted for winter attire. She is offering 10 to 20 % off for my members. We will start our Off Leash walk from there at 11:00 a.m. After this meetup I am organizing a Halloween lunch party for the dogs at the Doggie Style Deli on October 31st. I'm trying to get a vendor to come to the October 10th meetup that has Halloween costumes for dogs. Nicole doesn't sell costumes, so there will be no conflict there. I'll let you know about how that goes. At the Halloween party there will be a prize for the best dressed Halloween dog. You don't have to dress up you dog to come (I myself can't get Sam to put anything on his body). There will be a prize for the best owner Halloween costume as well, so don't feel shy. If your dog can dress up, so can you. Anyway Gino at Doggie Style Deli will be making a delicious Halloween cake for the dogs. Come and check it out! Details to follow. Now, for the directions to St. Albert Off Leash park. Going North on St. Albert Trail turn left (West) at the Fountain Tire on the left hand side. This is Green Grove Drive. Follow the road down the hill and at the 1st set of lights turn right on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue. Stay on Churchill Avenue for 3.7 kilo's. You'll see Kingswood Drive on the right, but turn left into the park and follow the road to the parking lot. Don't get fooled like I did. There are 2 Kingswood Drives. It's not the 1st one but the 2nd one. If you get lost or are going to be late call me on my cel. I'll have it on for the walk [masked]. Once you get to the parking lot, you'll see a building in the distance. Walk there, that's where we'll meet. It is indoors, and there are lots of park benches outdoors. This will be quite an adventure, for those who like adventures. Looking forward to our walk/talk and meetup. Jean Coates, Organizer Sam, Vickie & Vegas Oh, by the way, I'm still working on the tour of the Edmonton Humaine Society Facility, with an Off Leash play time at the end. Will keep you posted on that one as well!
