Strathcona County Off Leash

What a great afternoon walk today. The weather cooperated and the park was really nice. 31 members in total with their dogs came today to walk and talk. (see the pics I posted). Welcome to the first timers today. The dogs had a great time. I'm going to plan our next walk next week on Saturday, March 27th @ 11:00 a.m. as I will be gone to Las Vegas (or should I say Lost Wages) for Easter Weekend. Our next walk will be at Strathcona County Off-leash Site which is located just east of Edmonton. This is a lovely park with lots of trees and paths to walk the dogs off leash. The path winds through the trees and will take about 50 minutes to do the planned walk. The dogs will love it. The Highway 21 Regional Park is a multi-purpose park serving residents across the County. Located on Highway 21 and Highway 628, the park is Strathcona County's only dog off-leash site. From Wye Road (which is Sherwood Park Freeway), drive 3 km south on Highway 21, turn west at Junction 628 at the traffic lights onto Township Road 522 and watch for off-leash area signs (only a few hundred meters along TR 522). The parking lot is on the south side of TR 522. or: From Whitemud Freeway (which becomes Township Road 522), continue east past the Highway 14 intersection until just before reaching Highway 21. Turn south into the off-leash parking lot. If you reach Hwy 21, turn around and you will see the signs. I will meet you just east of the parking lot at the gate to the off-leash area. I will have my cell phone on, just for the walk in case you are going to be late or get lost [masked]). Looking forward to seeing you and your pooches on Saturday, March 27th at 11:00 a.m. to walk the walk and talk the talk and bark the bark. (corny, I know) Jean Coates, Organizer Sam, Vickie & Vegas

I love the park except for all the mud right now and I was very concerned with this walk when 3 big black dogs jumped on mine and seemed to be ready to fight. That was the first time that has ever happened.

What a great park! Lots of bush for the dogs to sniff through, and then the open spaces to run. I will definitly be going back to this one. My dog was so tired after from all the fun he had. A little muddy this time of year, really looking forward to seeing it in the summer.

Yes, it was muddy. I think all the Parks will be muddy for the next month or so. I've never seen so many muddy dogs and owners (who the dogs jumped on) as today! The dogs reminded me of little kids who love to romp in the mud. It didn't help that I got lost. I'm not very familiar with this park as I haven't been there too often. There was 20 owners today and 17 dogs. A nice turn out. Many more people and dogs are turning out as the weather gets nicer.

The muck was a bit of a turn off, but the paths to explore are fantastic. Such assorted directions. London loved the play and walk time. When it dries up it will definately be worth a walk or two. Oh and I promise not to wet my

It was a big park and it was muddy and snowy and icey but that was just part of the fun.

Silly me for not eating before the outing and during the walk my sugars felt pretty low and I should have brought snacks and a beverage.

Was very very muckie, but we found snow at the end of the walk and Avery was relatively clean! Got to hold off on that bath. :)

I just got back from Strathcona Off-Leash. If today is any indication, it's going to be a mud-fest tomorrow. Take appropriate footwear and a towel for your dog's feet.

Me, Isis and Bear would love to come. Me and Isis are doing a weekend workshop with the Pet Therapy Society. So, maybe next time.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
