Patricia Ravine Off Leash Park

This picture was taken at Patricia Ravine Park on July 20, 2013.

Our next meetup will take place at Patricia Ravine Off Leash Park on Sunday, August 10th @ 10:30 a.m. The walk is approximately 70 to 80 minutes long.

This park is very picturesque, with lots of trees, hills & valleys, a ravine and we eventually end up at the river, but it is not  a good park for sandals or strollers because of the very rugged terrain.

To get to this park, from the Whitemud Freeway, take the 159th Street exit. Go South on 159th Street and make your first right turn on 78th Avenue. Go a little past 163rd Street and you'll see a sign on the left hand side of the road called "Patricia Ravine". You will also notice an Off Leash sign there. (It's across the street from the school park.) There is lots of street parking. Go down the stairs where the Off Leash sign is and you'll see me set up at the bottom of the stairs. Don't look at the Google map, as it never seems to be correct. Just follow my instructions.

To have your dogs on leash for our walks is perfectly fine, but can I ask you please not  to have them on retractable leashes as they get tangled up around the other dogs and people.

ps: I know people love to bring treats for the dogs. For our Meetup walks though, can I ask you not to bring dog treats.  If you want to bring treats for your own dog (for training purposes) that is certainly acceptable, but please don't feed the other dogs of the Meetup group treats.  Some of them are allergic to certain food groups. If you bring treats for your dog, please give it to them away from the other dogs as some dogs (including one of mine) are treat aggressive.  I would hate to have any fights break out over something like that. Thanks for your understanding.

Looking forward to walk the walk, talk the talk and bark the bark on Sunday, August 10th at 10:30 a.m.

It was a challenging but really good walk today. I know Koda enjoyed being with everyone; as did I; sorry we couldn't stay for the group photo but I was already late for another engagement.

It was quite an exhausting walk today with 17 owners and 18 dogs. But it is a beautiful park and we all survived with no mishaps. Welcome to first timer John with his dog Zoe. Congrats to Paula with her dog Kelly who won the prize this week.

I look forward to opening up new vistas and friendships in this informal gathering. It will be exhilarating to meet new people and the dogs they love. God Bless
