Big Bear Park

This picture was taken at Big Bear Park on July 12, 2012.

Our next walk will be Sunday, the last day of August @ 10:30 a.m.  Why, because you know your dogs want it! Don't worry about the name "Big Bear" as I'm pretty sure there are no big bears around (maybe some rabbits and a few squirrels). It's a nice park with hills and valleys, lots of trees and has a creek running through it. There are a couple of small hills, so I would suggest wearing good grip shoes. This walk takes about 40 to 45 minutes round trip.

To get to Big Bear Park, on the South side of the river, get on 111th Street and go East on 19th Avenue. Then go South on 109th Street; and I know this sounds strange but you turn right (West) again on 109th Street. At the end of the block you'll see a picnic table on the right hand side. I'll be set up there. There is street parking. Don't look at the google map posted as it never seems correct. If you follow my directions, you should be o.k.

To have your dogs on leash for our walks is perfectly fine, but can I ask you please not  to have them on retractable leashes as they get tangled up around the other dogs and people.

ps: I know people love to bring treats for the dogs. For our Meetup walks though, can I ask you not to bring dog treats.  If you want to bring treats for your own dog (for training purposes) that is certainly acceptable, but please don't feed the other dogs of the Meetup group treats.  Some of them are allergic to certain food groups. If you bring treats for your dog, please give it to them away from the other dogs as some dogs (including one of mine) are treat aggressive.  I would hate to have any fights break out over something like that. Thanks for your understanding.

Looking forward to seeing you and your pooch(es) on Sunday, August 31 @ 10:30 a.m. sharp to walk the walk, talk the talk and bark the bark!

18 owners and 12 dogs enjoyed the walk today. It always amazes me how much fun dogs can have when they range from 6 months to 14 years and size from very, very tiny up to very large.
Sorry for the ones that got lost. It is a little tricky to find the first time. Welcome to first timer Lisa with her Schnoodles, Gilbey and Owen. Congrats to Orest who won the prize this week.

Sorry! I've been out of town more this month than I have been home. Hopefully I can join the walks once we get home and settle back in next month.
