Wilder State Ranch-Englemanns Loop

Hike: We will meet at Tunnel and hike straight up Englemanns Loop to Cabin Trail to Eucalyptus Grove Tables...stop for a break, then on to Wilder Ridge back to Park

Distance: About 8 and 1/2 miles; elevation gain about 600 feet from tunnel to peak, about an hour plus ascending depending on pace of group and about three plus hours  hiking plus break time.

Difficulty: You should be able to walk a normal steady pace with a mostly gradual but at times steep incline; rutted trails, roots and mountain bikers to watch out for.

Parking: Wilder is 1 1/4 miles north of Western Drive, the outer "north" limit of the City of Santa Cruz up the coast.  There is paid parking in park.  Follow the paved path to the area with the ranch buildings which will lead to tunnel.  If you park off hiway, the southern end has a very slippery steep trail down to the tunnel.

Rules/Disclaimers: If you are in the lead, please keep the person in back of you in sight; if you are at the back keep the person in front of you in sight.  There are ticks, and plenty of places to fall.  Please bring water, sun screen and appropriate clothing. By signing up for this hike you agree that you are responsible for your own safety and will hold other hikers and organizers harmless if you injure yourself and you can keep up with the pace of the group. Please read the FAQ.

If hike fills there is "no waitlist" for hosts/organizers.

I am sorry for having to cancel at short notice. I look foward to future hikes with your group. Something has come which will not allow me to participate in todays hike. You all have a great time today.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
